Marriage or Co-habitation

Marriage or Co-habitation

Marriage or Co-habitation

01 Jan 1970

A time will soon come that men will not want to marry women again. They will simply tell any woman in their life to just cohabit and accept the live-in partner status or leave. That trend has been on the rise in the West recently and it seems we are not taking note.

My old neighbour refused to marry his baby mama simply on the fact that he will lose his freedom should he upgrade the relationship. After 10 years and 6 year old child between them, my neighbour refused.

My wife and I were hosted to a lunch dinner one day after Sunday service, and we went over with wines and other gifts. Over the dinner, the wife was begging me to use my position as a pastor to tell her boyfriend to marry her. The lady had everything in the house but for one missing thing - The Ring! The man just kept asking her if she wanted to disrupt their arrangement.

I asked my neighbour during a gym session he invited me over to one day what was holding him back from tying the knot.

He said his first marriage failed within its first 18 months when his ex wife became pregnant of their first baby. He lost everything including the home. So he started all over again. He got a new home which he just finished paying, the child from the first marriage is now a teenager who decided she would rather stay with her father than her mother and her multiple sex partners.

He said he is afraid that the moment he makes his current girlfriend his wife, he would lose his peace. He has a son from the current relationship, and he is now in his late 40s with no great chance of bouncing back fast like he did when he was in his early 20.

When he said that, the man in me reasoned with him. But the God in me still disagreed. There is nothing I could say about God’s perspective that would work because he was never placed on God’s side before.

I know that if a man will sincerely wait upon God and be led to the right woman, this evil packaging of live-in partner will not be an issue.

I am an advocate of good and Godly marriage. Even those who don’t believe in God can still have a good marriage if they simply follow the principles guiding the institution.

If both men and women don’t rise up today and fix the marital nonsense woke folks are nurturing, the generation that will come after us will not believe in the marriage institution.

The part that scares me most which I still want to study more is the one that says 7 women will be begging 1 man to be their husbands…just to bear his name in Isaiah 4:1.

The day will come when men will no longer be donating their sperms to the sperm bank and would rather let it go to waste. Maybe that’s when the earth and nature will reset themselves.

Let’s do what is right now. If we fail before the generations watching us as children now, they will skip and dishonour it.

We are now hearing popular pastors preaching that divorce is not a sin. Next will be pastors preaching that if you cohabit with a partner that you both love each other that it is not a sin. That’s when that marriage will be redefined.

Forms that you have been filling in the West for years now has boxes for unmarried partners! Very soon, another movement will rise asking for laws to protect unmarried partners just like the alphabet people started their own.

Oh boy….mind is going crazy into the future seeing what will happen. Maranatha. Lord please come.
